You can make a difference! Our goal is to help more than 2,000 children or teens get the supplies they need to start the school year off right, and you can help. All backpacks go to local youth registered by SAY San Diego staff.
Three Ways to Make a Difference!
OPTION ONE—Adopt a Backpack
We will provide you with the empty backpacks and a supply list. Let us know the quantity of backpacks you want and we’ll contact you for your pick-up time. Empty backpacks will be available for pick up by appointment only on August 2 and August 8. Pick ups with take place at SAY San Diego’s Administrative Office on Aero Drive, until supplies last. This gives your group the opportunity to host a drive and then gather as a team to fill backpacks with the school supplies. Download the 2017 Supply List here. To choose your pick-up and drop-off date, please fill out this form.
OPTION TWO—Collect School Supplies
Use the 2017 Supply List to collect needed supplies in your own bins, labeled with the downloadable bin poster (below). This is a great option for businesses and groups that don’t necessarily have the time to organize a team backpack assembly activity. Please fill out this form to choose your drop-off day.
OPTION THREE—Sponsorship or Grant
We also gratefully receive donations through company giving programs, sponsorships, or grants. These donations help us to purchase school supplies at a discount and fill any gaps not covered by our community drives.
Thank you to our 2017 sponsors who have already committed to help this year!
Dr. Seuss Foundation—$5,000 for supplies
Boys & Girls Foundation—$4,000 for backpacks and Supply Kit boxes
San Diego County Employees’ Charitable Organization (CECO)—$1698.99 grant for calculators and flash drives
San Diego Chinese Women’s Association—$1,000 for supplies
FLYERS & BIN POSTERS
SAY San Diego receives requests from students year-round, so we accept donations several times a year. Our next school supply donation period will be January 2018.
