About

Our Values

SAY San Diego partnerships, youth programs and services address the comprehensive needs of the entire child, individual or family rather than focusing on one symptom or about a specific problem. SAY engages the San Diego community to work collaboratively and partners with organizations such as schools, community coalitions, and local government to create positive change. SAY San Diego’s holistic approach enriches youth, empowers individuals and families, and engages communities.

We Stand For Opportunity, Inclusion, and Well-Being, Every Day

SAY San Diego and its people value nondiscriminatory services in our workforce and relationships as a vital, creative, and moral strength central to our success. We are committed to fostering a work environment that respects and serves all individuals, consistent with applicable laws and regulations, regardless of background or personal characteristics.

We intentionally engage and embrace all experiences, perspectives, and talents.
We promote opportunity and well-being by proactively addressing and seeking to rebalance power and privilege in our organization, relationships, communities, and the broader society. We work to create and sustain environments that reflect the identities and lived experiences of those we serve.

We advocate for comprehensive service outcomes for communities of concern and against discrimination in all forms by taking deliberate action to prevent and eliminate inequitable treatment, systemic barriers, and disparities across race, ethnicity, and other protected categories. This includes addressing issues in systems such as education, healthcare, juvenile/criminal justice, and child welfare. We recognize that systemic change is complex, and we are committed to working collaboratively with allies across sectors to create durable, positive change.

We respect and serve all individuals to come together in a safe, inclusive environment.
We recruit, hire, train, support, and promote a non-discriminatory and inclusive workforce, in all ways that people identify themselves, consistent with applicable laws and regulations, but not limited to race, ethnicity, national origin, language, religion, citizenship, disability, age, regardless of background or personal characteristics, marital or domestic partner status, veteran status, and pregnancy. SAY San Diego will also incorporate all protected characteristics as defined by federal law and Executive Orders, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.

We recognize that our commitment to nondiscriminatory service, inclusion, and opportunity is ongoing. We are dedicated to continuously learning and improving our practices to ensure that these principles are embedded throughout our work and organizational culture. Our actions will reflect an evolving and deepening understanding of the needs and aspirations of the communities we serve.

OUR MISSION

SAY San Diego’s mission is to partner with youth, adults, families, and communities to reach their full potential.  Our vision is opportunity, access to services and well-being for all San Diegans.
